I would like to share with you, which in my opinion should not be missed if you spend your holidays in Australia.
1 / Espérance and its turquoise water
Located in Western Australia, this city has the best beaches in the country. Twilight Beach was voted the most beautiful beach in Australia in 2006.
It is therefore possible to practice swimming, surfing or scuba diving in a dream setting under a turquoise water.
2 / Tasmania for its nature
For nature lovers, this is simply the perfect place. More than a third of the territory of Tasmania is also classified as nature reserves, national parks and UNESCO World Heritage sites. For the brave hikers, do not miss one of the most beautiful hikes in the world according to The world: the Overland Track. A hike of more than 65 kms where you find yourself alone in the middle of nature.
3 / Whitsunday's Island
Without hesitation, THE place to be missed under no circumstances. After all, what better to ask than to sail on a sailboat in the middle of the ocean for 3 days with 25 other backpackers, have for main activity the "Snorkeling" among multi-colors fish while feasting on the evening of A good BBQ.
4 / Alice Springs and Ayers Rock
Going to the center of Australia is for many an experience not to be missed mainly to be able to observe with its own eyes the largest monolith in the world: Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock. This enormous rock has become a real attraction for tourists which has provoked many reactions among the aborigines, a sacred rock for them where it is forbidden to walk on it.
Less known but equally impressive are the Kata Tjuta (or Olga Mountains), a massif of arkose domes in inselbergs in the apparently impressive Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
5 / The Great Barrier Reef in ... the West
Some people may be shocked by this, but for me, there is no doubt, the coral reef to be seen in Australia is that of the West. Much less touristy, it has many charms that that of the East lost due to mass tourism.
Exmouth is the central point where you can book your cruise to observe the largest of the mammals: the whale shark
6 / Cairns
Anchorage point to visit the Coral Reef in the East, it is most famous for being the capital of backpackers where the nightlife is very lively. If it is sometimes forbidden to swim at sea (without combination) because of the jellyfish, the city has opened a huge open-air swimming pool where everyone finds themselves to sunbathe or sip a drink. Think also of taking into account the tropical climate: very hot in summer with monsoon rains occurring between November and March.
A worthwhile and inexpensive tour to do: go 100 km north of Cairns in the Rain Forest of the Cape Tribulation.
7 / Sydney, The Australian City
How to write this article without talking about Sydney. We like or do not like big cities, Sydney is really a city to see in Australia. There is so much to say about this city but here is a brief summary so as not to miss the inevitable:
• Surf Bondi Beach, one of the most famous beach in Australia
• If you're at the right time, attend the Gay and Lesbian Festival, a parade that will surprise many.
• Of course, do not leave Sydney without seeing the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge.
• Stroll through the Royal Botanic Garden
• Take the Manly ferry at sunset to experience one of Sydney's most beautiful and inexpensive adventures.
• Finally, for the bravest, you can make a stopover at the Blue Mountains NationalPark, a very famous park located about 100 km from Sydney.
8 / Melbourne, a cultural city
The second largest city in Australia after Sydney, Melbourne is the city of culture. Many cultural events and shows are frequently organized every year.
One of the major events is the Melbourne Cup (horse race on the first Tuesday of November) where all Australians bet on their favorite horse. Do not forget the Australian Tennis Open as well as the F1 Grand Prix.
As you can see, Melbourne is also the sport capital, where Australian football ("footy") and cricket are the two most popular sports in Melbourne.
9 / Byron Bay, a city for backpackers
It is a paradise for surfers. The atmosphere is reminiscent of surfing: "Cool and no stress". One of the slogans of the inhabitants summarizes well the atmosphere that one feels every day here: "A bad day surfing is better than a good day working"
This is one of the only places in Australia where you will see hippie communities.
Do not miss the lighthouse of Byron Bay, where you find yourself at the most eastern point of all of Australia. A place really to see in Australia!
10 / Broome and its sunsets
First city we can meet when we arrive from Darwin (after 3000 kms of Australian desert), Broome is a bit the Byron Bay of Western Australia. Many backpackers are present, that's why the Rangers are hunting wilderness camping. The town itself is nothing special but the beaches are just as beautiful as the red rock that surrounds them.
Recognized for these breathtaking sunsets, it is also possible to stroll on dromedary on the beach!
