The city that never sleeps, whatever name you use to describe New York, one thing is certain: it is a way of life in its own right.
1. Times Square
Officially recognized as the heart of New York's tourist district, Times Square brings together the best theaters, shops and restaurants in Broadway - not to mention its impressive billboards. This neighborhood, located between 7th Avenue and Broadway, covers much of the 40th West Streets. It is now a pedestrian zone, so do not hesitate, take a picture before you go to the theater.
2. Shopping on 34th Street
Those who think shopping starts and stops in Times Square still have a lot to learn. Head a few blocks further south and you will find such a large selection of shops. Of course, Times Square is home to the huge Toys 'R' Us, but 34th Street offers something even better: the second largest store in the world, Macy's Herald Square. This giant retailer offers countless ready-to-wear brands as well as the annual Thanksgiving parade, and its Christmas showcases are known around the world. If, after visiting the eleven floors, you're not satisfied, the Manhattan Mall and famous department stores such as Victoria's Secret and a newly opened H & M store are nearby
3. The Empire State Building
It is also on 34th Street that the legendary Empire State Building is located. Probably the second most emblematic monument of New York after the Statue of Liberty, it stands out from the ocean of Midtown skyscrapers. Entreson style Art Deco and its enlightened illumination at the top of the tower (which change according to the seasons and for special occasions), many reasons will encourage you to visit this famous building with singular architecture.
4. The Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty: this large green crowned statue represents American liberty and firmness of mind. The most athletic of you will be able to climb up to the pedestal (half the statue), which is not recommended for people who are dizzy. Know that the crown is open to the public, but that its access is limited - you will need to book in advance if you want to get a ticket. Ellis Island and Lady Liberty are both accessible by ferry.
5. Central Park
New Park Park, Central Park is very well named (in the heart of Manhattan) and is easily accessible. Its large green spaces served as the backdrop for many films and wedding photo sessions. We invite you to live your own adventures! Children will love the Central Park Zoo, while adults will enjoy the large number of bike trails and hiking trails. It's a really nice place, whatever the season: in winter, the Wollman Rink ice rink allows you to experience a magical moment on the ice, while in the summer, the Delacorte Theater welcomes the theater plays Shakespeare in the Park.
6. Coney Island
Explore the picturesque side of New York with Coney Island! The walks, the beach and the amusement park will give you the impression of a seaside vacation - a real achievement for a site easily accessible by subway from Manhattan. Ride the Cyclone roller coaster, visit the Monsters Gallery, eat Italian ice cream or sunbathe on the beach ... it's you who choose. You will perpetuate a tradition of more than a century! And enjoy it to eat a hot dog from Nathan's!
7. The High Line
Who would have thought that the most popular and trendiest tourist spot in New York would be a formerly abandoned section of the New York Central Rail road? Situated above Chelsea, southwest of Manhattan, the High Line attracts locals, tourists and even celebrities thanks to its blend of industrial and ecological aesthetics. Stroll, listen to a concert, contemplate the stars or take your children to a class of handicrafts ...
8. The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Met, as the Americans call it, is the most important art museum in all of New York, as it seduces enthusiasts, families, students, as well as people of ages and artistic tastes different. From Asiatic art to photography, to medieval art and the clothing institute, there is something for everyone. The recommended rate is $ 25 for adults. Fortunately, the Met is part of the Museum Mile - an internationally renowned museum complex in the Upper East Side.
9. The Rockefeller Center
Ah, the Rockefeller Center: this complex boasts a beautiful ice rink, NBC studios, as well as a large number of shops and stores. You will love to admire the architecture of this mall, eat in an upscale restaurant or watch the huge Christmas tree installed every year in December. Temporary exhibitions and surprises take place throughout the year, so you never know what to expect when you go there!
10. The 11 September memorial
On the morning of September 11, 2001, a whole nation changed in a split second. The 11 September memorial and museum were created to pay tribute to the 3,000 people who lost their lives that day, as well as to the victims of the attacks of February 1993.
