A trendy capital, beautiful landscapes and beautiful cities in Slovenia Welcome! Here are 7 of the most beautiful places in this wonderful little country.
1. Ljubljana
There is plenty to see and do in this small city. Above the town, Ljubljana Castle is a funicular or by a steep but scenic road. The clock tower offers stunning views over the old town and its beautiful squares and baroque architecture. As you walk, look for representations and statues of dragons, symbols of the mythological origins of the city. Legend has it that the Greek hero Jason and his Argonauts friends would have killed a dragon in a swamp, on the current site of Ljubljana.
For an unforgettable stay, book in Hostel Celica for one or two nights. This pension is a former Yugoslav prison from which the cells were redone by more than 80 artists, creating a mixture of private rooms and dormitories. They are individually decorated with unusual furniture (eg. Round beds hanging from the ceiling), mosaics and murals. If you can not get a room, the pension also offers guided tours.
2. Bled
This picturesque fairy tale is the most popular resort of Slovenia - and we understand why. People come here to enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake and its island flanked by a church. In the distance you can see the Gothic Bled Castle, perched on the edge of the cliff. It's a great town if you want a more active holiday: cycling, canoeing, hiking ... And for the kid in you, you can take a chairlift to the top of the Straža ski slope and toboggan down - it gives an incredible adrenaline rush and it's an original way to enjoy the view.
3. Škocjan Caves
This system of caves, the site of UNESCO World Heritage, has the highest cave in Europe. The caves are full of stalagmites and stalactites and impressive home to 15 species of bats.
4. Piran
The beautiful coastal town of Piran flows into the Adriatic Sea. The winding streets of the old town are lined with Venetian-style buildings. His most impressive building is the church of St. George, which stands proudly on the town. From the hill where the church is located, you have a view to the ocean.

Even if you do not think necessarily for the winter sports, Slovenia has many excellent ski slopes and cross-country ski trails. Vogel, for example, is located on a plateau above the majestic Bohinj Lake and is the perfect resort for beginners and experienced skiers. The season starts in December and ends in May and this station is, in addition, much cheaper than the best-known ski resorts.
6. Predjama Castle
This castle 700 years old is situated on a 123m cliff at the entrance of a cave. Go in July and admire the medieval duel tournament.
